How to Date Young Women (for men over 35)
by R. Don Steele
Rating: 4 1/2 out of 5.
This is the second book by Mr. Steele that I have read; the other is Body
Language Secrets, a guide during courtship and dating. I have to say that both
are very good, if not excellent.
First off, the title of this book is deceptive. There is a lot
here for men under 35 too. Sure, this book is chock full of stuff that men over 35
need to know about dating younger women. Some of it is obvious: Get in shape;
young women are disgusted by blubbery middle-aged men. Some of it is not so obvious,
but equally valuable: After you get in shape at one gym, start going to another gym
where the women didnt see you when you where all fat and sloppy. That is stuff
that old guys like me need to know (I already knew it, but maybe you dont), but
younger guys probably dont. But, wait! If youre not over the hill
there is stuff here for you, too.
THE BEST PARTS ARE FOR ALL MEN: The thing I like best about R.
Don Steele, is that he seems to have a great deal of insight into what makes young women
tick, and he communicates it in his book. He talks about what women of various age
groups are generally looking for in a man; the ADVANTAGES, from HER viewpoint of you being
older (you young guys can laugh if you want -- but believe me, a MAN can almost always
take a lady from a boy); things a man can do that will make her reluctant to date you; and
the problems of dating the truly gorgeous ones.
Don also gets into the practical aspects: where to meet her, how
to dress, what not to say, what to drive, how to shape up, and lots more.
For you younger men (or boys), this is also a good book to read because
if you read between the lines and apply yourself, you can figure out how to grow-up a
little bit and combine the BEST OF BOTH WORLDS -- how to have some of the attractiveness
of being older, with the advantages of your youth.
WHAT I DONT LIKE: Don, in my opinion, missed out on
a lot, and discounts what a good women over 30 can offer, and puts way to much value on
the younger ones. Im pushing 40 now (real hard too), and even as close as 18
months ago, I dated women as young as 20. In my opinion, you can have them.
One word: Flaky. Dont get me wrong, Don recognizes they are mostly flakes, he
just seems to think that putting up with their flakiness is worth it, and better than
dating a women over 30. I dont.
Dont let that put you off, however, because this is a very good
book for anyone who wants insight into men and younger women.
